As I grew up on a farm, I had a variety of animals but I never had a horse of my own. The only horse on the farm belonged to my Dad. So I grew up not having much experience with equine. However, about 5 years ago I started going to exotic animal sales as a hobby. I quickly fell in love with miniature horses. They are so refined but so small that sometimes they appear more like a stuffed animal than a real horse but then there is no mistaking them for real when they run!! I started doing my research on the internet into miniature horses. I continued to run across the bloodline of “Little Blue Boy.” One farm in Ohio, Flying W Farms, had horses from the Blue Boy line. They had a flashy tobiano filly for sale. I decided on the tobians which I named Susie Q. My mom however, wanted the grey filly and needless to say, she came home too and was named Bonnie Blue. Both girls were so small they traveled in a goat hauler in the back of my truck for the 5 1⁄2 hour trip!! They are now mature ready to breed. I am so excited! Dr. LaNita Flanary |
